Banarasi Tissue Silk Sarees — Gold-Toned Sheer Silk with Brocade and Zari Work

Banarasi Tissue Silk sarees are pure handloom silk sarees woven in Varanasi using a fine silk warp combined with a gold or silver zari weft — a construction that gives the fabric its signature metallic shimmer, which is why Tissue is traditionally called "the golden cloth." This collection includes plain Tissue, Tissue Brocade (raised woven motifs on a tissue ground), and Katan Tissue (a Katan silk base with tissue zari detailing). Every saree is Silk Mark certified, GI-tagged as authentic Varanasi-origin weave, billed under HSN Code 5007, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Prices in this collection range from roughly ₹17,000 to ₹48,000. Examine the zari shimmer and weave construction via live WhatsApp video shopping before you buy.

What Makes Tissue a Distinct Banarasi Weave

Tissue is defined by its construction: a fine silk warp thread combined with a metallic zari weft, woven so the zari catches the light across the entire surface of the fabric — producing a continuous gold or silver sheen rather than zari confined to borders and motifs. This collection includes three variants. Plain Tissue uses this zari-weft construction across a sheer silk ground for an all-over glow. Tissue Brocade adds raised, woven motifs — florals, paisleys, or jaal patterns — that sit above the tissue ground, giving texture you can feel by running a finger across the fabric. Katan Tissue combines a Katan silk base (the firmer, more traditional Banarasi silk) with tissue-style zari detailing, giving more body than plain tissue while retaining the metallic shimmer.

How to Style Your Banarasi Tissue Saree?

  • Pair your saree with a designer blouse and minimal jewellery — let the sheen of the fabric be the highlight.
  • Choose lightweight variants for day functions or summer wear, and heavier ones for evening or wedding events.
  • Drape it gracefully to accentuate your curves and create a regal festive look.
  • Perfect for brides, bridesmaids, or festive guests, these sarees exude subtle glamour without overpowering your personality.

Weight, Drape & Best Occasions

Plain Tissue sarees are among the lightest and most sheer fabrics in the Banarasi range, with a fluid, almost translucent drape — well suited to summer wedding functions, sangeets, and evening receptions where the zari shimmer catches venue lighting. Tissue Brocade sarees carry more weight and structure due to the raised motif weaving, making them suitable for bridal and main-ceremony wear. Katan Tissue sarees sit between the two — heavier and more substantial than plain tissue, with the durability of Katan silk, suited to winter weddings and formal daytime functions.

Authenticity You Can Verify

Every Tissue Silk saree in this collection — plain, brocade, or Katan Tissue — is Silk Mark certified (verifiable at silkmarkindia.com), billed under HSN Code 5007 confirming pure silk fabric for customs and tax purposes, sourced directly from handloom weavers in and around Varanasi — the GI-protected region for authentic Banarasi textiles — and comes with a certificate of authenticity with every order.

Care & Storage

Tissue Silk sarees should always be dry cleaned — the fine zari weft can be damaged by water, detergent, and machine washing. Store wrapped in muslin or cotton cloth (never plastic, which traps moisture), and refold periodically along different lines to prevent permanent creasing at the fold points, since the sheer fabric is more prone to crease damage than heavier silks. If ironing is needed, use the lowest heat setting on the reverse side only, to avoid direct heat contact with the zari threads.
